課程概述

The purpose of this practicum is to train family nurse practitioner (FNP) students in the application of advanced knowledge of acute medical care in internal medicine and surgery, with a focus on family nursing training. Through direct experience, students will develop a systematic methodology for identifying patients and their families. The practicum emphasizes assessment, differential diagnosis, and management of selected health problems for a caseload of hospitalized patients and discharged clients. Critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and problem-solving are emphasized and will be practiced and mastered in a clinical setting and will reflect progressive competency of students. Weekly grand rounds will focus on cases presented by the students as well as specific topics that relate to the management of common health problems. Required for FNP students in the first year of specialization with 12 clinical or community hours per week (4 credit hours). 

課程目標
1. Develop clinical acuity to perceive the health care needs of patients and their families when facing health threats.
2. Integrate bio-psychological and pathophysiological concepts of health and behavior to make clinical management decisions, assess, and manage health problems.
3. Utilize a scientific method to determine the specialty patient and their families' needs for care.
4. Design therapeutic and nursing interventions for selected health problems.
5. Systematically relate clinical findings and conclusions to ensure continuity of care, while also developing responsibilities and integrating the concept of health education to develop rigorous nursing management.
